New Scrubs!

So at my spa I wear scrubs as my uniform. I went to Walmart the other day to invest in a few new scrub outfits with some actual color in them! The other pairs I have been wearing are either navy blue or black... It was time for some color!

For this printed scrub top I also purchased dark brown bottoms to match.

Also, for the pink I have a pair of the same color pink bottoms.
The nice thing is that I can mix and match my tops and
bottoms to create ever more new outfits!

When I was at Walmart my lovely boyfriend accompanied me and I was thinking about buying a pair of tan scrubs. Before I bought anything I asked his opinion about it and he gave me words of wisdom as always!
"Samantha, you don't want to be giving off the message to your clients that you are plain and look like you hate your job!"
I totally agreed with him! I want my clients to look at me and see life, and longevity. The last thing I would ever want to do if give off the wrong message to anyone, especially my clients. I love my boyfriend Vince, I am so thankful for his advice!
If you are a licensed massage therapist or just someone in need of scrubs, honestly, just go to Walmart. If you went to a scrub store you are going to be paying around $60 for a pair of scrubs, and at Walmart you would pay $30 for a pair. They are very nice scrubs and they have a good selection of colors and different sizes. I never thought I would be supporting Walmart... but I am!

First Full Day

Today at the spa I did all computer work! I made up a Fall Massage Specials Flyer (if you are interested just ask!) and sent out 2 different emails to all of the clients. Believe it or not… it took all day. However, I really enjoyed myself! I love working in the spa with my boss Marisa. I believe her and I will work extremely well together.
When I came home though after we finished for the day I got a phone call from Marisa and she said the other therapist started freaking out on her and calling her a liar and whatnot so she finally let her go. Now I have the massage room all to myself which will be much less stressful and confusing to deal with. I have 2 massages tomorrow because I am taking the other therapists massages for the week. Which I do NOT mind! That's the update with me :)

First Day of Work!

Today I went into my new job at a day spa in my town, to have a practice massage with a client my boss has had for many years. Everything went wonderfully and I am headed back there in the morning to make up a flyer that we are going to put out in businesses and mail around town. I am extremely excited about this new job! I feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity... I know it is going to be a lot of hard work, but I am going to try my best and put in my full effort. I cannot wait for things to start flowing and actually happening. Thank you LORD for everything you provide!
My mom had to take a picture of me going to my first day of work! I love her

Putting Together Massage Stool

Before...
Tonight I put together my first massage stool! This may seem insignificant but it it very exciting to me! I am about to start my first job as a massage therapist tomorrow and I could not be more excited (I'll give details in a later post). My mom and I made a trip to Target/Ross and I purchased this stool, frames for my certificates, a basket to put my supplies in, and a blanket for my clients since the weather is finally starting to cool off.
After!
This chair was on clearance at Target for $15! (I'll write it off on my taxes later, every bit counts!) and I decided to leave the back off of it to make it a stool. It will make it much easier to maneuver around my massage room. I love the green color! There was a pink one as well... but I figured green would be a little more professional and earthy (since people are into that nowadays). I can not wait to sit on it while I give my first massage tomorrow, at my first job (as you can tell, I am excited)!

Background

I graduated from the massage therapy program in May of 2011. I am new at this but I am ready! I can't wait to get out there and start working doing something I absolutely love. I feel extremely blessed to have been given this gift and opportunity. I already have been given two job opportunities and I am about to take the second one! I could not be more excited to make everything official. I have learned throughout my schooling that I specialize in Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue massage modalities.  My main goal is to make my clients feel at peace and relaxed during their entire session; from the first moment I shake their hand to when my client walks out the door. If my massage session is their only time away from this world that can be very stressful at times, I am going to give that to them. I believe I have been given this gift for a reason and I am not going to let it go to waste. I am going to explore the full potential of it and give it everything I have to offer.
